One-off swap vs full renovation

There are two very different cases when we talk about sanitaryware. First is the one-off swap: a cracked toilet, a basin smashed by a falling bottle, a bath being converted to a walk-in shower for accessibility. Half-day or full-day jobs that don’t need major work. Second is full bathroom renovation where everything changes at once and several trades coordinate.

For one-off swaps we visit same-day or next day. We measure what’s installed, check the drain type, assess whether the substrate and tiling will survive the change without needing touch-up. If swap is direct, we give a fixed quote and bring the new unit. If it involves tile work or drain adjustment, we say so up front so you know the real scope.

What we offer

Toilets with high-level, low-level or wall-hung concealed cisterns, suspended models on built-in frames, rimless models without an inner lip, more hygienic and easier to clean. Basins on pedestal, drop-in counter, wall-hung with exposed trap. Shower and bath screens, fixed, sliding, folding or corner. Standard baths, simple whirlpools and slim shower trays for full renovations.

Bath-to-shower conversion, much in demand on the Costa Blanca because of the older average owner age, is a complete package: bath out, drain adjusted, floor sealed, fresh tiling if needed, slim tray, screen and tap fittings. Typical timing: 2-4 days with all trades coordinated.

Material quality in hard water

Hard Costa Blanca water yellows cheap white basins within a few years. Mid-to-high range brands like Roca, Sangrá or Villeroy & Boch use enamels with anti-lime treatment that hold up much better. For baths and shower trays, vitreous porcelain or high-density resin outlasts cheap acrylic easily.

For taps we always recommend ceramic anti-lime cartridges and chrome-plated brass instead of chrome-plated plastic that flakes in 3-4 years. The price gap between a cheap mixer and a good one is modest, but durability is in another league.

Coordinating with tilers on renovations

If a renovation includes new wall or floor tiling, we coordinate with a trusted tiler. Sequence matters: old unit out first, then tile chipping, tiler does their part, new unit fitted last. Doing it all in one block saves trips and avoids measurement mistakes because the unit is on site already chosen.

For small flats, a full bathroom renovation with new tiling, sanitaryware and taps takes 5-8 days with two trades coordinated. The home is without a bathroom during those days, so plan with margin, especially if there’s only one.
