Why a small renovation is a different project

A small full bathroom or kitchen renovation looks simple from outside, but technically it combines several trades that have to work coordinated in a small space within a tight timeline. If coordination fails, deadlines double, budget runs away and the final result has visible defects you’ll live with for the next ten years. The difference between a well-done and a badly-done renovation rarely lies in materials (same in both) but in project, coordination and the quality of each trade.

The project starts with a technical visit where we measure the current space, identify what can be modified and what’s structural-untouchable, and discuss with you what you want: just modernise keeping current layout, or fully reorganise (typical in bathrooms where a bath is removed for a large shower). We do an initial sketch, show it to you, adjust per your feedback, and only then prepare the detailed itemised quote with specific materials chosen.

Realistic timeline

A full 5-7 m² bathroom renovation takes 8-12 working days with all trades coordinated. A 10-15 m² kitchen needs 15-25 working days. These timelines assume materials are on site the day they’re needed, which depends heavily on prior planning. We recommend starting renovation conversations 6-8 weeks ahead so delivery times for sanitaryware, worktops, fitted kitchens and other long-lead items don’t dictate the calendar.

During the work, the bathroom or kitchen is out of service. If you have only one bathroom, coordinate with family or property manager for access elsewhere during the period. For kitchen renovations we set up a temporary kitchen with microwave and small fridge in the living room if needed. We discuss these details in the initial project so there are no surprises.

Decisions with most impact

In bathroom renovation, the most impactful decision is bath vs shower. If you have reduced mobility or plan to age in place, an extra-flat anti-slip shower tray with safety bars is always the best option. With small children, a bath remains comfortable the first years even if you don’t use it yourself. Bath-to-shower conversion is the most-requested renovation on the Costa Blanca due to the higher average owner age.

The second critical point is the floor. Anti-slip porcelain stoneware is the most resistant to intensive use and humidity. We accept micro-cement if you want a continuous joint-less look, but it needs light annual maintenance. Natural stone is beautiful but more demanding with cleaning and periodic sealing.

In kitchen renovation, the worktop is the most important decision. Granite and marble are traditional, need periodic sealing, fragile to impact. Quartz aggregate (Silestone-type) is the best-seller today, resistant to stains, knocks and moderate heat. Thin porcelains like Dekton are the premium option with maximum resistance.

Coordinated work, not improvisation

We work with crews that have done this renovation format together for years. Day-by-day planning: day 1 demolition and rubble removal, days 2-3 plumbing and electrics, days 4-7 tiling and flooring, day 8 sanitaryware, day 9 taps, days 10-12 paint and carpentry, final day fittings and clean. Any deviation is communicated immediately and the calendar adjusted.

FAQ

How long does a bathroom renovation take?

8-12 working days complete. Kitchen: 15-25 days. Timelines assume materials on site on time. Start planning 6-8 weeks ahead.

Do you work with client-supplied materials?

Yes, no problem. We just need them on site on the day, and product warranty is the supplier’s responsibility.

Is there serious masonry work?

Usually demolition of bath or tile, and in some cases partition modification. Most renovations don’t need structural work.

Do I need a council licence?

For aesthetic renovation without structural or layout changes, a responsible declaration is enough. For layout changes, a licence is needed.

Do you coordinate all trades?

Yes, that’s our main value-add. One point of contact, one quote, one timeline. You don’t have to chase multiple pros.
